Joseph holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology by University of Florida, and it currently an Assistant Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His research has focused on the relationship between politics and public culture in a globalized world, doing fieldwork mostly in Peru, where he examined the process of creating a national museum that depicts the history of an internal armed conflict that this country experienced during the 1980s and 1990s. His interests include political anthropology, museums and memorialization, transitional justice, and the nation-state.
