Helene holds a PhD in Anthropology by of Copenhagen University, she is currently an Associate Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Academic Coordinator of Latin American Social Issues (LASI) Summerschol. Her research questions revolve around social and political life. She is interested in studying how subjects become political actors and understanding the effects and affects produced by social and state violence in the lives of people and the societal level. Currently her research revolves around two major areas: a) neoliberal democracy and b) revolution from a material and diachronic perspective. At the same time she has explored the methodological and analytical intersections between art and social sciences. Her regional specialization is in South America and the Andean Area, in particular Bolivia and Chile, where I have carried out prolonged field work in the cities of El Alto (Bolivia) and Santiago (Chile).
